| Latest News: September 2009 How the world can turn upside down and you never even notice until............. After feeling totally unemployable a year ago I have now become my own boss - and that is my excuse for not having updated the website in such a long time! This year has been such a rollercoaster ride that I can never be quite sure that what has happened did or whether it was just a dream. We now have 150 ewes, mostly Lleyns, but I have stuck with my original Dorset Downs and Southdowns too. Plus we have lambs still running on the farm to fatten. I have gone from "Play" farmer to full time shepherd and although it is quite daunting, I am loving every minute of it! Julian is continuing to be a grounding force, aka Captain Sensible, and keeps nagging about business plans and income, but for the moment I am just ignoring that!
LLeyn Ewe On top of the sheep we have had quite a change in our dogs. Meg has become a wonderful sheepdog and is my constant companion, although she still has some days when I could quite happily sell her! We also have Fern, who is now 10 months old. She has the same Dad as Meg, Beacons Bud, but her mum is Killibrae Flax. Meg and Fern work wonderfully together but are totally different dogs and it has been fabulous training Fern, although we still have a long way to go!
Fern I have also taken in some more dogs this year for training. Bess came and went in no time at all and we currently have Tia and another lined up to be trained. We have also helped to rehome several other dogs to agility homes or pet homes if they show no working instinct.
Bess As if all that was not enough......we have been doing Dog and Duck displays. In part it was just to stop Victor from nagging but it is also great training for the dogs and an additional source of income which should stop Julian nagging too! Hopefully we can secure some more bookings for next year and develop that side of the business too.
All in all it has been a wonderful year and none of this could have happened without the long suffering Julian
and all our other friends and supporters; Victor and Di, Loraine and Jason, John Bimson for the duck hurdles, all the local farmers for the grazing - the list goes on and it feels a bit like an Oscars speech but this has been a team effort for which I am truly grateful. Thank you everyone!
