Farming and Smallholding Courses
At Beech Hayes Farm, Churchinford, Nick and Ruth Strange run several farm orientated courses and other animal husbandry courses throughout the year, below is a selection of the scheduled courses for 2010. These are designed for people from wannabe farmers, beginners to the more experienced or just for those who want to get their hands dirty!

Calf rearing and Care of the Cow: 22nd May 2010 A course which covers all elements of rearing calves, growing your own beef and keeping a house cow. Discussing breed selection, desired outcome, management, feeding and general upkeep. Looking also at the logistics of cattle passports and the rules and regulations on the transportation. |

Open Farm Sunday – 13th June 2010 A chance to come to Beech Hayes Farm and enjoy the animals and their produce. Including fun and games and lots to do for the children and adults alike. |

Grow your own Christmas Dinner – 17th July 2010 Learn how best to rear your own Christmas dinner, this course covers all elements of poultry rearing right through to plucking and drawing a bird. |

Introduction to Pig Keeping – 18th September 2010 Whether you want to keep pigs for breeding or bringing home the bacon, this course will cover all you need to know, from feeding the pigs to feeding yourself! |

Feathered Friends – 16th October 2010 Poultry for pleasure or profit. A one day course looking a small scale poultry keeping, including laying hens, table birds, chicks, turkeys, ducks, geese. |
