  Tess

Tess came to us a few years ago for training.  She had been causing havoc on the farm where she had been bred and had been entertaining herself by running off and finding some sheep for her owner.  She would proudly present him with a couple of hundred sheep belonging to someone else!  Needless to say he got a little annoyed with this.  So Tess came to us for some borstal training!

On the first day she arrived I took her out on the quad bike and some ewes and lambs had broken out so I allowed with dog with no commands and allegedly no ability to go and she what she would do.  she very calmly and politely went round the sheep and quietly put them back in the field they should be in and once finished, jumped back on the bike. I was instantly in love with her!  Over the next few weeks I continued to train her and then when the time came for her to go home her owner asked me to try and sell her as he felt his father would still not allow her back on the farm.  I didn't take much convincing to keep her and she is well a truly my dog.  In the same way that Fern is Julian's dog, Tess is definately my girl!

She often comes to work with me on other farms and has also helped us with the sheepdog displays, although she is a little to eager with the ducks and moves them round the course at a million miles per hour!

Tess is now registered with the ISDS on Merit.  This means that she has been assessed by the ISDS as being true to type and of a standard of working ability to be classified as a border collie despite not having a recorded pedigree.  She has produced a litter of three puppies since being with us and they are all fantastic dogs.  Two went to family/agility homes and the third puppy went to our neighbouring dairy farm where by 7 months old she was bringing in 140 cows for milking day and night!
